Sandra Blair "Sandy" Grady (Blair)
Dateline – Wells
Sandra Blair Grady, 89, of Wells, died Sunday evening, November 11, 2018 at the Barron Center in Portland. She was born in Passaic, NJ on February 26, 1929, the only child born to Samuel and Gladys (Simpson) Blair. Sandy grew up in Providence, RI, graduating from Central High School, Providence, RI. She then earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Bryant College (now known as Bryant University).
In 1949, she married Earl R. Grady. Together they shared over 40 years of marriage until his death in 1990.
For many years, Sandy was employed as a legal secretary. She then became a homemaker, staying home to raise her family. In later years, she worked as a librarian at the Wells Public Library, a job she thoroughly enjoyed.
She was a docent at Laudholm Farm, and would coordinate bean suppers and craft fairs for the Farm. In her free time, she enjoyed needlepoint, quilting, watercolor painting, birds, flowers, and the many cats she had over the years. Sandy was an amazing cook, and invitations to her house parties were much sought after!
Sandy is predeceased by her husband Earl.
Survivors include her son, Todd Grady of Andover, MA; her daughter, Heather Lavallee of Cape Elizabeth, ME; eight grandchildren, Matthew Paul Lavallee, Jonathan Todd Lavallee, Nathanael Ellery Lavallee, Andrew Earl Lavallee, Christian Hugh Lavallee, T.
