A chance connection-

I met Johnnie at the American Legion in 2007 when I spoke to the members about a recent trip I had taken to see where my father served in Vietnam. I found out that Johnnie and my dad were school mates and had experienced similar life altering effects from the war. We both had tears in our eyes during our chat and each of us gained something that evening as we made a connection which I will never forget. I am grateful that I got to meet him then and just as grateful that I got to know his family through facebook. We are indeed all in this life together to help one another-a lesson that Johnnie fully understood and spent his life emulating.
