Obituary for Betty E. Nason (Henry)
Betty E. Nason, 92 years, of Alfred, ME, died June 23, 2019 at Greenwood Nursing Care Center in Sanford.
Betty was born April 6, 1927 in Rumford, ME, a daughter of Hugh and Dororthy (Brown) Henry. She graduated from high school in Gorham, ME and started working in the Sanford Mills where she met her future husband, Richard Leo Nason, Sr. They married on July 20, 1946 and celebrated 47 wonderful years together until his passing on October 27, 1993.
Although Betty worked at different jobs throughout her life, her greatest love was being a homemaker for her growing family. She loved being a wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother, family was everything in her life. Betty was a fabulous baker (think blue ribbon apple pie), enjoyed playing cards and liked car rides exploring the countryside.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Richard, Sr. and her sons, Richard L. Nason, Jr., and Daniel H. Nason.
Betty is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Norma Jean Gergely and her husband, Mike, of Alfred, ME, and Brenda Doody and her husband, Bob, of Syracuse, NY; her son, Gary Nason and his wife, Karen, of Boston, MA; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit on Saturday June 29, from 10 – 11 am at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel, Wells, ME, where a memorial service will be held at 11 am with Betty’s son in law, Rev. Bob Doody. Interment will take place at a later date at Ocean View Cemetery. The family encourages flowers, in Betty’s memory.
