Obituary for Jennifer Bettencourt (Nelson)

Kennebunk and Houston, TX

Jennifer Bettencourt, 52, of Kennebunk, died unexpectedly Friday, June 7, 2019 in Kennebunk.

She was born February 23, 1967 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Alan S. and Sandra Goodwin Nelson, and is a graduate of Kennebunk High School, class of 1985. She furthered her education attending Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, and Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY, majoring in photography art for commercial publications.

She also returned to school later in life to obtain her beautician certification and received much satisfaction styling others hair.

While living in Houston, TX for many years, she owned and operated Bettencourt’s Best, a domestic cleaning company for 10 years. Returning to Kennebunk, she worked for several companies, including a Valet Parking company for a local restaurant.

She loved photography, was an avid reader, reading several books a week, mostly from the Louis T. Graves Memorial Library, where she was on a first name basis with the librarians and volunteers there. Most important to her, were her two Sons, whom she adored.

Survivors include her two Sons, Lucas and Zechariah Gustin of Houston, TX, her Parents, Alan and Sandra Nelson of Kennebunk, three Sisters Victoria Farley of Marlborough, MA, Molly Stimpson of Kennebunk and Betsy Stevens of Wells, and 6 nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours well be held from 5 – 7:30 PM on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk. A Funeral Mass in Celebration of Jennifer’s life will be at 1 PM Friday, June 28, 2019 at St. Martha’s Church, 30 Portland Rd, Kennebunk. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Kennebunk.
