Jeannine Wood, 89 of Kennebunk, ME passed away on May 27, 2019 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford, after a brief illness. She was born in Sanford, ME, on July 3, 1929, the daughter of Leo and Henrietta (Campagna) Therrien. She attended Sanford Schools. She married Herbert (Woody) Wood from Boston, MA whom she met through corresponding with him while in the service. They were married for over 55 years.

Jeannine worked in the Kennebunk textile mills along with her husband for a short period. She also was a housekeeper cleaning homes and cottages where she made many friends. Jeannine and Woody enjoyed being social with church friends and dining out often. She had a wonderful circle of friends that brought her much joy, as her family and friends would say “she had a unique sense of humor that made us all laugh”. She was surrounded by people that were angels in her life that were all there to help make things easier for her after her husband passed away. She felt blessed. She made frequent trips to Sanford to visit with her sister, family, and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband Herbert, and her son Richard who recently passed away.

Survivors include her sister Julie Chapman, her nephew Randy Chapman and wife Linda, and her niece Debbie Hurd and husband Frank.

There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Friday June 7, 2019 at the Messiah Christian Church, 2700 Post Road, Wells, ME. A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday June 12, 2019 at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road Springvale, ME.

To all those close to Jeannine, I know you will miss her and always remember her, as I will. I have so enjoyed being part of her life for the last few years. We've shared many meals out at various restaurants-she sure loved to eat! It was fun watching the gulls & ducks with her at Gooch's beach. She was one-of-a-kind and I loved her. Prayers for all who loved her. Jacki West

I have been a part of Soup's On held at Wells Congregational Church since it began. It was always a pleasure to see Woody and Jeannine at our lunch. Shortly after Woody passed away, Jeannine returned to Soup's On. So many of us were very fond of Jeannine. She so loved coming to the church for lunch. She made many friends of guests and volunteers alike. Jeannine was so saddened when she got the news of her son's passing recently. There is no doubt that the Wood family has been reunited in God's loving presence. Prayers for all of Jeannine's family and friends. May she rest in peace.
