Obituary for Margaret Mary Smith (McGuire)

Margaret Smith, 90, passed away at home on April 28, 2019 with her loving daughter by her side. She was born March 20, 1929 in Boston to Walter and Olive (Knowlton) McGuire.

Margaret graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School. She became a nun and went on to work as a Nurse’s Aide with the Little Sisters of the Poor while stationed all over the United States and lived in France. She was happily married to Bob Smith for 50 plus years.

Margaret was a quiet, fun loving person who was down to earth and lived a full life. She was a humble, good person with an infectious smile that could light up a room. She loved going to the beach and travelling out west to spend time with her daughter. They enjoyed going on long road trips and visiting National Parks. Recently she picked up the hobby of coloring, which helped her relax and put her mind at ease.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, and sisters Doris McKinnon and Barbara Watts. She is survived by her daughter, Karen VanMaastricht of Wells; brothers, Walter McGuire of York and Joe Larcano of Melrose, MA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

In lieu of a charity donation, Margaret would want you to do the best you can, because that’s all you can do.

“I’ll be talking to you” and “Until we meet again”.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
