Obituary for Barbara M. Wood (Chase)
Barbara M. Wood, 100 years young, died Tuesday, April 10, 2019 at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco.
Barbara was born on May 30, 1918 in North Andover, MA, a daughter of Frederick M. and Mary C. (Hatch) Chase. She was the wife of the late George F. Wood.
Barbara and George owned and operated Langsford House in Cape Porpoise, a 100 room, full service seasonal hotel on the water, from Memorial Day to Labor Day for many years until 1962. They also owned the GlenMor Bowling Lanes in Kennebunk until George’s death.
Barbara enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, playing bridge, and watching the Red Sox and New England Patriots, especially Tom Brady. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband prior to his death.
She is survived by her sons, Peter Wood and his wife Susan of Springfield, MA and Ronald Wood and his wife Karen of Crossville, TN; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
There are no calling hours. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport.
