Obituary for Karen R. Williams (Gooch)

Karen R. Williams, 65, of Melbourne, FL and longtime resident of Kennebunk, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 in Portsmouth NH following a period of failing health.

Karen was born September 21, 1953 in Jacksonville, FL, the daughter of Carroll E. and Ruth M Taylor Gooch, and is a graduate of Kennebunk High School, class of 1971.

Karen worked in her parent’s fish market, Shackford and Gooch in Kennebunk’s Lower Village, until it’s sale. Most recently, while residing in Florida, she worked as a live-in caretaker.

She was a longtime active member of the Washington Hose Fire Co. in Lower Village, and attained certification for Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2.

Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children.

Karen is predeceased by her parents, infant brother Byron Gooch, and step-mother Johnnie Ann Gooch.

Survivors include her sister Laurie Hunter and husband George of Kennebunk, her two sons David Williams of Kennebunk and Robert Williams and his wife Christina of Saco, four grandchildren Aidanne Williams of Arundel, Destiny Martin and her partner Dillon Strout, Eva Williams and James Bronzetti, all of Saco, great grandson Drake Strout of Saco, and two nephews, Matthew Hunter of Shapleigh and Taylor Hunter of Kennebunk.

An hour of visitation will be held 1-2 PM Tuesday, December 18, 2108, followed by a funeral service at 2 PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Kennebunk.
