Obituary for Roger Lewis Varney

Roger Lewis  Varney
Roger Lewis Varney, 76 years, a resident of Lebanon, ME died Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NH after a brief illness.
Roger was born in Somersworth, NH on June 8, 1942, a son of William and Eleanor Mae (Newcombe) Varney and graduated from Somersworth High School. He served with the US Army for four years.
He worked at the Miller Shoe Shop for several years then also worked for General Electric as a Grade B machinist until he retired in 1998.
Roger loved going to camp in Errol, NH. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he also enjoyed woodworking. Most importantly, he loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was proud member of NRA and a proud New York Yankees fan.
He was predeceased by his wife Leah Frances Varney who died in 2016.
Roger is survived by his daughter Tracey Varney and her significant other Ada of South Portland, ME, his son Charles Varney and his wife Beverly of Exeter, NH, his surrogate sons Robert Remick , Jr. and his wife Danielle of Rollinsford, NH and Roy Remick, Sr. and his wife Shanon of Somersworth, NH; a brother Arthur Allaire of North Berwick and two sisters, Sylvia Mann of OR and Joanne Robitaille of SC; three grandchildren that were the joy of his life, Roy Remick Jr, Robert Remick, III and Renee Remick; many nieces and nephews; god-children Aaron Allaire of Union, NH and Christina Ellis of Sanford, ME and his Boston “Yankee” terrier, Angel.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Somersworth, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made to New Hampshire Association of Conservation Commissions at 54 Portsmouth Street, Concord, NH 03301 attn: Barbara Richter or at nhacc.org in Mr. Varneys’ memory.
