Herbert Watson "Herb"  Meyer III
– Lyman, ME
Herbert Watson “Herb” Meyer, III, well-known seafood and flowers owner ,72 yrs, a resident of Lyman, died Saturday, August 18,2018 at the Gosnell Hospice in Scarborough after short battle with cancer.
Herb was born in York, Maine on April 22, 1946, a son of Herbert W. Meyer, Jr. and Edith Francis Brooks, and attended York Schools.
Herb was an autobody specialist for several auto body shops in New Hampshire for several years before he came to Kennebunk, ME in 1976 and opened his own body shop which ran until April 1, 1991. Herb changed his career and opened Herb’s Seafood and Flowers Retail on York Street, Kennebunk .
He hosted Herb’s Fish Fry and Karaoke music events at the American Legion Hall in Kennebunkport for many years.
Herb was avid about fishing, hunting, golfing, and snowmobiling. He also loved to sing karaoke with friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, his son Norman M. Meyer who died in 2001, a brother Robert Meyer, and two sisters Winnifred Sumner and Sue Stewart.
He is survived by his wife Marie Lavoie Meyer of Lyman, ME; a son, Herbert W. Meyer, IV and his wife Margie of Lyman; three daughters, Alecia Meyer of Kennebunk, Cheryl Meyer Spofford of Kennebunk, and Bille Jo Sucy of Quincy, MA; a step son Nicholas Textor of Lyman, ME, step daughter Melissa Textor of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Joyce Roark of Kittery, ME ; six beloved grandchildren ; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk, Maine.
Funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Chapel. Interment will be private.
Should friends desire memorial donation may be made to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, c/o Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route One, Scarborough, ME, 04074 in Herb’s memory.
