Obituary for Vincent R. "Bob" Kremer

Vincent R. "Bob" Kremer
KENNEBUNK Vincent Robert “Bob” Kremer, 62, of Kennebunk, died Sunday Morning, June 24, 2018 at his family’s home. He suffered from Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease.

Vincent was born August 19, 1955 in Niagara Falls, NY, the oldest child of Vincent Willard Kremer and Mary Tymjack Kremer. He attended a year of high school at the American School of Madrid, Spain, and two years in Scotland due to his father’s work as an engineering consultant for Dow Chemical. Vince is a graduate of Rutgers University, Brunswick, NJ with a degree in Archaeology, and worked on digs in England and in New Mexico. He served as photographer and Editor in Chief of the University’s yearbook.

While a college student in New Jersey, Vincent began working for The Courier News as a photographer. During those eleven years at the newspaper, his photos won awards. He became an avid rock climber, mountaineer, and back packer, visiting the Adirondacks and the White Mountains often with friends. He was a serious Contra Dancer and took great joy in it.

In 1986 he moved to Portland, Maine where he joined LL Bean Inc. as a Customer Service Rep and met his wife Cathy. He stayed with the company for seventeen years and eventually designed product trainings and coached trainers. He loved his fellow workers at LLBean, and planned an Outdoor Experience Day for the call center employees at Camp Hinds in Raymond.

Outdoor activities filled his life with joy. While at Bean’s he worked weekends as a rafting guide and a kayak instructor. He shared many kayak camping trips with his wife and son on Moosehead Lake, and along the Coast of Maine. The longest day paddle was 23 miles at sea.

He attended UNE full time for a year and a half and earned his Teacher’s Certificate in History and Social Studies, then taught Middle and High School Students for several years.

Survivors include his wife Cathy Hogel Kremer, son Christopher Hogel Kremer, both of Kennebunk, his mother Mary Kremer-Kurtz of Williamsville, NY, and two sisters Lea Ann Kremer Hebb of Boston, NY and Tracy Kremer of NC.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
