Obituary for Gerald Lee "Jerry" Everett

Dateline – Lyman

Gerald L. Everett, 77, bravely lost his battle on October 29, 2017 at Maine Medical Center with his beloved family near. Born April 14, 1940, Jerry grew up in Southgate, Michigan, the son of Ernest and Henry Flora Everett, with siblings, Don, Ron, Lon, and Joyce. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served 23 years. He fulfilled his dream of retiring in Maine, building his own home with help from most of the people in Charleston, and of owning a chainsaw, a pickup with a gun rack, and a snowmobile. He hoped that would make him a real Mainer. In 2006, he and Lori moved to Lyman, Maine. It was a tough physical road for him the past 26 years but he endured with strength, courage, and humor. He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of over 56 years; daughter Teresa, her husband, Dan Sullivan, and daughter, Kate; daughter, Julie, her husband, Stephen McGee, and son, Benjamin. He felt thankful to have such wonderful daughters and sons-in-law, and to be "silly papa" to his special grandchildren.
He is also survived by sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends spread across the country. Per his request, there will be no services so no flowers, please. Instead, the family would like those reading this to seriously consider the harmful effects of their own or their loved one’s tobacco use.
