Obituary for Margaret L. Kent (Baker)

Wells, Maine

Margaret Leonora Kent, 83 years, a resident of Wells, died Tuesday evening Sept 5, 2017 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family, after brief illness.

She was born in Rosella, NJ on November 6, 1933 a daughter of Henry Hutchins and Ruth Marion (Hannigan) Baker.

She graduated from Cushing Academy, Ashburnham, MA, and also graduated from Boston University and Fitchburg State where she received her Master’s degree in Education. Margaret was an Elementary Teacher for Ashburnham Schools for over thirty years. She was a social worker at Varney Crossing Nursing Home of North Berwick for several years.

Margaret was a member of St. Mary’s Church of Wells, Wells Branch Extension, and Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association.

She enjoyed reading, knitting, Odyssey of the Mind for seniors and spending time with her family and friends. Margaret also enjoyed going on field trips with retired teachers.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert D. Kent, her brother Henry Baker and sister Ruth Munro.

She is surviving by her two sons Timothy L. Kent of Lyman, ME, and Daniel P. Kent and his wife Wendy of Fairfax, VA; two daughters Lillian S. Connelly and her husband Richard and Laura R. Barra and her husband Rick both of Wells, ME;, a brother Richard Baker of Rindge, NH and a brother in law, Duncan Munro of Northborough, MA and 11 grandchildren: Matthew and Meghan Connelly, Daniel Barra, Veronika Barra Cryer, Dominic Barra, Nikki Kent, Joshua, McKenzie, Casey, Autumn and Allison Kent.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 PM Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road Wells, Maine. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Monday, September 11, 2017 at Holy Parish at St Mary’s Church, Elbridge Road Wells, ME with Father Fred Morse officiating. Interment will be at Ocean View Cemetery, Wells, ME.

Should friends desire, memorial donation may be made to the Wells Recreation Department, 208 Sanford Road Wells, Maine 04090 in Mrs. Kent’s memory.
