Obituary for Barbara Louise Ellsworth (Welch)
Barbara W. Ellsworth, 89 Years, of Kennebunk passed away at home on Friday, June 23, 2017 following a brief illness.
Barbara was born May 23, 1928 in Kennebunk, ME, a daughter of Fremont and Ruth (Nichols) Welch of Kennebunk. She was a graduate of Kennebunk High School, Class of 1948. While in High School, Barbara worked at Rogers Fiber, a shoe company, on Water Street in Kennebunk. On August 28, 1949 she married John A. Ellsworth at the Kennebunk Baptist Church. She became a homemaker, raising her three children.
Throughout her life, Barbara enjoyed spending time at the beach, riding bikes, ice skating and most importantly, family gatherings with her children and grandchildren. She lived her life with a strong Christian faith.
Barbara was predeceased by her brother, John Welch.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, John A. Ellsworth; her son, Michael J. Ellsworth and his wife, Karen, of Wells; her daughters, Jayne Ruel-Harris and her husband, Jeffrey Harris, of Wells and Brenda Ellsworth-Bylow and her husband, Gary Bylow of Kennebunk; two grandchildren, Zackary Ruel and his wife, Tonya, and Gavin Snapp; and one great grandchild, Crysanthemum Ruel.
Barbara’s family wishes to thank the staff at St. Andre Health Care Facility and Southern Maine Hospice for their wonderful care, comfort and family support.
There are no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held for family.
