Obituary for Michael R. Sackett

Michael R.  Sackett
SOLON, ME.

Michael Ralph Sackett, 65, of Solon, ME passed away on April 30, 2018 at Huntington Commons in Kennebunk, ME after a battle with Lewy body dementia.

He was born in Rochester, NY on March 23, 1953, son of Ralph and Dorothy Sackett and grew up in Bergen, NY. He moved to Maine in 1973 after graduating from Paul Smith’s College becoming a State of Maine Licensed Land Surveyor and Licensed Forester. He was the co-founder of Sackett & Brake Survey, Inc. established in 1983, retiring in August 2016.

Michael was a Member of the Maine Society of Land Surveyors and a Board Member of the State of Maine Licensure of Professional Land Surveyors. He was very active in the Town of Solon, serving on the Planning Board and Budget Committee, also was a member of the Solon Volunteer Fire Department, serving as its fire chief for 14 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Dorothy, and a sister, Mary Beth.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Nancy Hill Sackett of Solon, daughters, Jennifer Park of Columbia, NJ and Sarah Raji of Simsbury, CT, sons-in-law, Michael Park and Edris Raji, and grandsons, Braeden and Cullen Park, and Brycen Raji, sister Anne Maturi of Gettysburg, PA, several nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles.
At Michael’s request no funeral services will be held. Visiting hours with the family will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Solon Fire Department, 119 South Main St, Solon, ME from 10am-12pm.
