I wish you a lovely book, on a porch, in the summer by the sea.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Guerette (Marsha Card)
My great Aunt Jo was one of a kind. She was intelligent, caring, loved her family and friends, was always a teacher and our family history was very important to her. Aunt Jo would gladly share her knowledge and loved to talk to me about our family history. We shared a love of knowing who and where our family members were. Through her continued effort she had made a nearly complete catalog of the Matthews and Littlefield family from the time they arrived in Maine. Education was extremely important to her and she expressed pleasure and joy whenever I told her that our children were doing well in school. Later on I shared with her our grandchildren's progress as well. When our children attended college she was very pleased that they were continuing their education. Her mind was always sharp and she continue learning. She would call my father (Kenneth Card, her nephew) once or twice a week sometimes and discuss many things with him. She enjoyed their conversations as did my father. If my father had not heard from her for a week or so, he would call her to check on her and she appreciated his caring. My aunt worked very hard in her lifetime and took care of herself. I am grateful that she had prepared for her later years and that due to ill health was able to spend her remaining years at Gorham House. She was content there and we appreciate the care she did receive. We will miss you, Aunt Jo.
